The Phoenix Park solar energy system is one of the largest renewable energy projects in
Massachusetts. The installation of 2,530 rooftop and ground level panels will offset the facility's
electrical load by approximately 40%. In addition to the solar energy system, Phoenix Park has
taken a number of additional measures in effort to “be green” with energy efficient windows,
energy efficient HVAC systems, energy efficient lighting, maximum roof insulation, low flow
plumbing fixtures, and waste stream recycling.
“
The redevelopment of Phoenix Park is a superb example of commitment to the
environment and the general public at large. The project has not just recycled some
buildings but restored a valuable piece of history that greatly contributes to the overall
well being of the community. The investment in newer technologies to reduce, reuse, and
recycle should be commended and emulated . The current solar project goes above and
beyond a typical “go green” campaign and will prove to be a model for the future.”
